August 22, 2006 Jacksonville, Alabama The Mayor and Council of the City of Jacksonville, Alabama met in a called session on Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at 8:00 p.m. in City Hall Annex No.1. Mayor Johnny L. Smith called the meeting to order. Upon roll call, the following members were present: Mayor Smith and Council Members George L. Areno, Jerry T. Parris, and Jeff L. Shelton. Council Members Charles E. Notar and Sandra F. Sudduth were absent. The City Attorney was present. WAIVER OF NOTICE. A motion was made by Council Member Parris, seconded by Council Member Areno, to adopt the waiver of notice, as per attached original, for the called meeting. Upon vote on the motion, the following votes were recorded: Yeas: All; Nays: None. The Mayor announced the motion carried. RESOLUTION 1295: CANVASS ELECTION RETURNS – BOARD OF EDUCATION, PLACE 2. A motion was made by Council Member Shelton, seconded by Council Member Parris, to adopt Resolution 1295, to canvass the election returns of the regular Municipal School Board Election, and elect Phillip Pearson as Board of Education Member, Place 2, for receiving a majority of the votes. Upon vote on the motion, the following votes were recorded: Yeas: All; Nays: None. The Mayor announced the motion carried. A copy of Resolution 1295 is made part of the Minutes. APPROVE CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION – PHILLIP PEARSON, BOARD OF EDUCATION, PLACE 2. A motion was made by Council Member Areno, seconded by Council Member Parris, to approve the Certificate of Election of Phillip Pearson to the office of Board of Education, Place Two. Upon vote on the motion, the following votes were recorded: Yeas: All; Nays: None. The Mayor announced the motion carried. There being no further business to come before the meeting, the same was, on motion, duly adjourned. ATTEST:
