The Jacksonville Senior Center invites you to come join us.
The Jacksonville Senior Center strives to help Seniors with their health and wellness and provide assistance with social and educational opportunities to enhance the quality of their lives.
We do this by providing daily services to those 55 and older at the Jacksonville Senior Center, located next door to the Community Center. We are open Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Our mission is to offer something for everyone.
Each morning starts off with Coffee and Newspaper Reading and, of course, social time. The programs begin at 10:00 each morning. In addition to the activities listed below, we attend health fairs, local events, play and practice year around for the Senior Olympics (Masters Games), have Wii competitions, go shopping weekly, go on monthly trips, have scavenger hunts, mystery trips, have a Summer and Fall Garden, Book Clubs, Movies, work with many agencies on Community projects such as adopting soldiers, collecting canned goods, and clothes for our community needs and visiting at the hospitals, nursing homes and shut- ends. We go out to eat once a month in the evening with our Supper
Club and have so much fun with each of these events.
The Jacksonville Senior Center offers Bus Transportation daily to those of you living within the City limits.
We also offer a Nutrition Program where you can receive a meal, if you choose to, daily. This program is in conjunction with our activities program, but you do not have to partake in this part of the program. There are activities going on during this time also. We offer a Home Meal Program also; I can give you more information on these Programs if you are interested. Please feel free to call me. (256) 435-9199
Today’s Senior Centers are structured to include a variety of activities. Many Seniors enjoy the socialization and visiting throughout the day and this is also encouraged. We hope that you will come and visit us soon, and keep up with us and our many events and activities. These activities and events change each month. There is no fee for any of our services. We have a monthly activity calendar that can be picked up at the Senior Center each month or viewed here on line.
