to Jacksonville, Alabama, a small Southern town with a historical past and
promising future. Jacksonville has a significant location, about half-way
between Birmingham, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia. The Mountains provide
great natural beauty. With its historic public square, beautiful historic
churches, antebellum homes, and safe, attractive neighborhoods, Jacksonville has
a small town charm. It is close enough to Birmingham and Atlanta for its
citizens to have access to the City activities they desire. The friendly
people of Jacksonville certainly add to the small town charm.
Families are lured to Jacksonville by one of the best school systems anywhere. For many years, we have enjoyed the reputation of having a quality City school system. Test scores of the students of the Jacksonville City Schools are always among the best in the area. Also, Jacksonville is the home of Jacksonville State University. JSU not only provides the citizens of Jacksonville with many educational opportunities, but they provide an array of cultural and athletic activities.
In Jacksonville, we have abundant recreation opportunities available, including a beautiful community center which features a full fitness area, basketball court, walking track, swimming pool and a 3-field, lighted soccer complex. We are also fortunate to have the Chief Ladiga Trail passing through our City. The trail caters to serious and casual walkers and bicyclers.
