City council members in the council chamber hold a quilt featuring an eagle in red, white and blue atop an American flag.

Councilman James Newell and his wife Rebecca presented the city with this quilt to commemorate the nation's 250th birthday during our council meeting Monday night! The squares were created by the Joy Quilt Guild of Jacksonville and Lickskillet Quilt Guild of Oxford, and quilted together by Rebecca Newell. The front features an eagle in red, white and blue atop an American flag, while the back includes national documents such as the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. Check out the stitching for some hidden details!
