- Proof of income for all who live in your household, either current pay stub or SS award letter for current year
- Food Stamps award letter for the current year
- Utility assistance: bill must be in your name, be the most current bill, AND be a disconnect notice
- Prescription assistance: requires a printout from Crow Drug

Community Action provides services to enable families/individuals to accomplish one or more of the following objectives:
- To secure and retain meaningful employment

Provides a wide range of services to children and their caregivers as well as single adults, the handicapped, and the elderly population of Calhoun County.

- Family Preservation Case Management: In-home assessment helping families prevent child abuse and neglect.
- Crime Victim's Counseling: Services are available for crime victims, and their families, such as: child abuse, sexual assault/abuse, family violence, robbery/burglary, gang-related violence, assault, murder, arson. Services include both individual and group counseling.
- Focus: Short-term, in-home crisis intervention and family education program. This service is available through a DHR referral only to families in imminent risk of removal of a child(ren) from the home, or whose child(ren) has been placed in out of home care.
- Survival Skills For Women Program: Empowers women to take charge of their lives, no matter what their circumstances.
- Supervised playroom available to families while receiving services at the Family Services Center facility.

The Salvation Army oversees Project Share for Alabama Power (at this time, this is the only utility assistance they provide). Project Share helps pay the wintertime energy bills of low-income Alabamians who are age 60 or older and/or disabled.
