Jacksonville's Historic Train Depot beside the Chief Ladiga Trail

Whether you are a competitive cyclist, a casual cruiser, or a student commuting to Jacksonville State University, Jacksonville offers some of the most scenic and accessible cycling in northeast Alabama.

The Chief Ladiga Trail

Jacksonville is a proud host of the Chief Ladiga Trail, Alabama's premier rails-to-trails project. This paved path runs almost 40 miles north from Anniston, through Weaver, into Jacksonville and west through Piedmont before hooking up with the Silver Comet Trail in Georgia. Take a break at our restored historic train depot at 650 Mountain Street NW for restrooms, water fountains and bottle refills, an external bike repair station and local history on plaques and kiosks.

The trail also connects to our city Community Center at 501 Alexandria Road SW, which itself features a host of amenities
