Generally No! At the time of booking, as long as you are not combative, you will be allow to make a number of calls to let someone know where you are. Also there is a phone in the jail cell area so you can call at any time. The phone in the jail area is collect only, so the people you are calling have to except your call. Also during the weekdays, when the jailer is in, he generally will let you use the regular phone.

If at all possible you will be taken before the judge on the next available court date. The court/judge will determine your next course of action.

Yes, you work the fines off at $40 per day and on the fifth day it doubles to $80, then $40 per day starts again.

Yes – Passing unauthorized items (including tobacco products, drugs, alcohol, etc…) to inmates is a punishable arrest, fines and jail time. (13A-10-36 – Promoting prison contraband in the first degree, or 13A-10-37 – Promoting prison contraband in the second degree, or 13A-10-38 – Promoting prison contraband in the third degree)

 Fines are assessed on the following schedule;

• If you work the fines off, it is $40 per day and on the fifth day it doubles to $80, then $40 per day starts again.
• If you just sit in jail, it is $25 per day and on the fifth day it doubles to $50, then $25 per day starts again.

Visiting day for jail inmates is Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. only. Visitation is restricted to family member only and for a maximum of three at a time and for a thirty (30) minute period only if personnel are available. Doctors, lawyers, mental health, etc…, may visit inmates at any reasonable and/or necessary times. Other visitation may be granted upon approval by Jailer, Shift Supervisor or the Chief of Police. Do not bring a weapons or anything that may be perceived as a weapon of any kind, we will check! And you are subject to a search of your property and/or a pat down of your person.

You should not bring these items to the inmate;

• No food or drinks will be brought into the jail from outside unless approved by the Officer in Charge or the jailer.
• No glass or metal articles will be allowed in jail with the exception of eyeglasses, or items required for medical reasons.
• Only prescription medication will be administered to inmates. Such medication must indicate the inmates name, doctor’s name, and type of medication by name, prescribed dosage, and date of prescription. These medications will be stored in the inmate’s personal property envelope and administered by the officer that feeds the inmate. A log will be kept showing time and dosage given to such inmate.
• Tobacco products of any kind are prohibited by city ordnance in public building.
• Newspapers will not be allowed in the jail since they create a fire hazard.
• No weapons or anything that may be perceived as a weapon of any kind.

The prisoner may have brought to him/her the following items;

• 1 – Clear bottle of shampoo
• 1 – Clear stick of deodorant
• 1 – Unopened bar of soap
• 1 – Tooth brush
• 1 – Unopened tube of tooth paste
• 1 – Small flexible comb
• 2 – Paperback books, Bibles, and legal materials may be accepted for inmates; however, pornographic material, comic books, or large magazines are not allowed due to the nature of the material contained and the fire hazard they pose.
• Clean clothes and underwear. Prisoner contaminated clothing will be exchanged for clean clothes brought by visitors. If the inmate already has clothes here, we will exchange those clothes for clean ones.
